About the product
A distinctive 17 year old single malt from Orkney’s Highland Park Distillery, created in collaboration with New York based artist Laila Gohar as the second release in the Between You and I series. Master Whisky Maker Marc Watson sampled over 80 casks, drawing inspiration from Gohar’s Egyptian heritage to craft a whisky designed to spark memory and imagination.
The spirit matured for 11 years in refill casks before finishing in highly active, unseasoned American oak. This brings forward expressive notes of orange blossom, leather and warming spice, balanced with Highland Park’s signature bright fruit, sweetness and subtle aromatic peat smoke. Bottled at 47.5% ABV with natural colour.
The packaging and accompanying booklet replace conventional tasting notes with illustrated scenes and short vignettes inspired by Gohar’s own response to the whisky: leather recalling ancient artefacts in a Cairo museum, orange blossom evoking a sunlit Andalusian courtyard, and vanilla suggesting the slope of a tropical volcano under a night sky.
