About the brand

Founded in 1978 by Swiss entrepreneur Donald Hess on Mount Veeder, the winery is now in its fifth decade. The "Maverick Ranches" (MVRK) line was launched to honor Donald’s "maverick" spirit—specifically his willingness to farm challenging, high-elevation, or untamed lands. While the family remains anchored in Napa, they expanded to Paso Robles to capture the region's famous diurnal temperature swings (hot days and cold nights) that produce intensely concentrated fruit.
