Austin Hope Winery is a testament to the pioneering spirit and long-term vision of the Hope family in Paso Robles, California. Their history in the region dates back to 1978 when Chuck and Marlyn Hope moved from Bakersfield, initially planting apples and grapes in what was then a relatively unknown wine region. They quickly recognized Paso Robles potential for viticulture, particularly for grape growing, and eventually focused exclusively on vines. The Hope family played a crucial role in the development and recognition of the Paso Robles AVA and later co-founded the Paso Robles Wine Country Alliance, highlighting their deep commitment to the region. Austin Hope, their son, grew up immersed in the vineyards and officially took the reins of the family business, Hope Family Wines, in 1995. The Austin Hope label itself was launched in 2000, initially focusing on Rhône varietals grown on their estate. However, in 2017, Austin Hope released his first Cabernet Sauvignon under the eponymous label, which immediately garnered critical acclaim, including a record-high 97 points from Wine Enthusiast for a Paso Robles wine. This wine quickly became a benchmark for Cabernet Sauvignon from the region.
