Neither a bourbon nor a rye, Michter’s Sour Mash uses a unique grain selection that sits between the two styles. Distilled via the traditional sour mash method and entered into toasted and fire charred new American white oak barrels at a low 103 proof, it is aged until the tasting panel deems it ready, then bottled without dilution.
The nose offers honey, toffee, stone fruit and sweet oak. On the palate, dark cherry, plum, powdered cocoa, caramel and balanced spice unfold with impressive depth and texture. The finish is long, warm and honeyed, with lingering dried fruit and gentle spice.
