The inaugural release from Hawk’s Rock Distillery in County Sligo, Garavogue 20 Year Single Malt Irish Whiskey marks a bold new chapter in Irish whiskey. Named after the local Garavogue River and crafted by Master Blender Helen Mulholland, this limited Release 01 is a double distilled single malt of remarkable depth and character.
Aged for a minimum of 14 years in ex bourbon American oak casks, it then spent further years finishing in a distinctive combination of French Muscat, Sauternes, Pedro Ximénez Sherry and Barbadian Rum casks. Bottled at 47% ABV without chill filtration or artificial colouring.
The nose opens with a rush of vanilla, warm peach, apricot and spun sugar, balanced by musky florals and raisin. On the palate, vanilla and citrus sweetness meet buttery ripe apples, progressing to notes of black coffee, walnut and gentle spice before returning to raisin and sugar cane. The finish is long, sweet and refined, with lingering fruit and warmth.
