The 22nd release in Woodford Reserve’s celebrated Master’s Collection, this limited edition Kentucky straight bourbon explores the transformative power of extended wood seasoning. Barrel staves were left outdoors to weather for five to seven years, far longer than the typical period, reducing harsh green tannins, opening the wood grain, and concentrating natural sugars for greater depth of spice, toasted sweetness and dark fruit character.
Filled with Woodford’s classic mashbill of 72% corn, 18% rye and 10% malted barley, the spirit then matured for nine years in these unique barrels within the distillery’s heat-cycled warehouses. Bottled at 100.4 proof (50.2% ABV), it presents an amber colour with aromas of rich caramel and vanilla alongside almond, cherry and cinnamon-dusted dried red apples. On the palate a velvet current of vanilla and caramel is brightened by orange oils, cinnamon and clove, leading to a sweet finish of warm cinnamon.
