About The Product
Señor Artesano Catrín Reposado Tequila is a testament to the traditional art of tequila making, crafted with 100% Blue Weber agave. This tequila begins its journey in the rich volcanic soils of Jalisco, Mexico, where mature agave plants are harvested. The hearts of the agave, known as piñas, are then slow-cooked in traditional stone ovens or autoclaves, a process crucial for converting complex starches into fermentable sugars and developing the agaves inherent sweetness. Following cooking, the piñas are crushed to extract the sweet agave juice, or mosto. This mosto is then fermented using a proprietary yeast strain, a process that typically takes several days to convert sugars into alcohol. After fermentation, the liquid undergoes double distillation in copper pot stills, a technique valued for its ability to refine the spirit and concentrate its flavors, yielding a clean and pure tequila. For its "Reposado" designation, this tequila is then aged for a period typically ranging from two months to just under a year in oak barrels. These barrels impart a subtle golden hue and contribute gentle notes of vanilla, caramel, and a delicate woody spice, softening the spirit while allowing the rich agave character to remain at the forefront. The handcrafted ceramic Catrín bottle further emphasizes the artistry and tradition behind this tequila.
