About the product

Roca Patrón Añejo Tequila is a premium expression crafted using the traditional tahona process, where cooked agave is slowly crushed with a volcanic stone wheel to extract rich, full-bodied flavors. Made from 100% Blue Weber agave, it reflects a deeper, more authentic tequila character.

Aged in oak barrels, it develops a warm amber color and a complex, well-rounded profile. On the palate, it reveals notes of roasted agave, caramel, and vanilla, complemented by hints of toasted oak, dried fruit, and baking spice. Subtle earthy tones from the tahona process add depth and distinction.

The texture is rich and slightly creamy, leading to a long, smooth finish with lingering sweetness, spice, and oak.

Traditional and expressive, Roca Patrón Añejo is ideal for sipping, offering a refined tequila experience that highlights craftsmanship and heritage.

Tasting Profile & Food Pairings

Taste Notes

Because it is distilled at a higher proof and uses the Tahona process, it is richer and "chewier" than standard Patrón.

  • Nose: Cooked agave, vanilla, and dried fruits (raisins) with a distinct earthy mineral undertone.
  • Palate: Very velvety. It features notes of citrus zest, light ginger, and black pepper, balanced by a buttery sweetness and hints of toasted nuts.
  • Finish: Long and warming with lingering smoke, oak tannins, and a velvety mouthfeel.

Food Pairings

The high proof and earthy complexity of this Tequila allow it to pair with much richer foods than a standard Blanco.

  • Savory: Mole Poblano with Chicken or Duck. The complex spices and chocolate in the mole sauce perfectly match the earthy and nutty notes of the Tahona-processed agave.
  • Main: Grilled Lamb Chops with Rosemary. The charred fat of the lamb harmonizes with the oak aging, while the rosemary highlights the tequila’s herbal qualities.
  • Cheese: Aged Manchego. The saltiness of the cheese brings out the hidden citrus and "stone" minerality of the highland agave.
  • Sweet: Dark Chocolate & Orange Truffles. The bitterness of the cacao grounds the pepper notes, while the orange zest mirrors the tequila's bright citrus finish.

About the brand

The Tahona Process: The defining characteristic of this bottle is the use of a Tahona—a two-ton volcanic stone wheel. While most modern tequilas use industrial roller mills, Roca Patrón is made by crushing the cooked agave with this stone.Distilled on Fibers: Unlike the standard line, Roca Patrón is fermented and distilled with the agave fibers (bagazo) still in the liquid. This results in a much more "earthy," complex, and "agave-forward" flavor profile.Current Status (2026): By early 2026, Roca Patrón has become increasingly difficult to find. The brand suspended/discontinued the line to focus on its core and "Prestige" (El Alto/El Cielo) tiers, making any remaining bottles on the shelf highly collectible.
