About the product

Le Réviseur XO Petite Champagne Cognac is a refined expression crafted exclusively from grapes grown in the Petite Champagne cru, known for producing elegant and well-structured eaux-de-vie. Aged in French oak barrels, it develops depth, complexity, and a smooth, mature character.

On the palate, it reveals rich notes of dried fruit, apricot, and fig, complemented by honey, vanilla, and subtle floral undertones. Hints of toasted almond, gentle spice, and oak add further complexity, creating a well-balanced profile.

The texture is silky and rounded, leading to a long, elegant finish with lingering fruit, light spice, and soft oak.

Sophisticated and approachable, Le Réviseur XO is ideal for sipping, offering a classic cognac experience with finesse and balance.

Tasting Profile & Food Pairings

Taste Notes

This XO is famous for needing a few minutes to "breathe" in the glass, evolving from a closed, woody aroma into a complex symphony of spice and fruit.

  • Nose Intense and inviting. It opens with baked cherries, walnut, and oiled leather, followed by deep, sweet aromas of vanilla bean and caramelized plantains.
  • Palate Full-bodied and structured. You will find a rich mixture of dark fruits and kola nut, transitioning into a mid-palate of milk chocolate, orange zest, and black tea. It has a "tingling" spice that keeps the sweetness in check.
  • Finish Long and resonant. It leaves a lingering trail of licorice, aniseed, and toasted oak, with a warm, dry exit that highlights the quality of the Limousin wood.

Food Pairings

Because of its "Whiskey-like" intensity and rich caramel-fruit profile, this XO handles bold, savory, and bitter pairings exceptionally well.

  • Savory Parmesan Grissini wrapped in Parma Ham. The saltiness of the ham and the crystalline crunch of the Parmesan are the perfect foils for the Cognac’s leather and cherry notes.
  • Main Roasted Venison with a Cherry Reduction. The dark fruit in the sauce pulls out the baked cherry notes of the spirit, while the gamey meat stands up to the oak tannins.
  • Cheese Aged Mimolette or Comté (18+ months). The butterscotch and nutty qualities of these cheeses harmonize with the walnut and vanilla in the glass.
  • Sweet 70% Dark Madagascar Chocolate. The acidity and bitterness of high-quality dark chocolate highlight the Cognac's orange zest and spice, creating a luxurious "mocha" sensation on the finish.

About the brand

Le Réviseur is produced by Domaine Abécassis, a producer that has pioneered the "Single Estate" movement in Cognac. While many large houses blend eaux-de-vie from thousands of different growers, Le Réviseur focuses solely on their own vineyards in Petite Champagne. The estate's philosophy is one of "Power and Precision." The Petite Champagne terroir naturally produces spirits with a strong "backbone," and the cellar master leans into this by using toasted oak barrels to create a Cognac that is intense, dark, and unapologetically rich. In 2026, the brand is also celebrated for its High Environmental Value (HVE) certification, reflecting a commitment to sustainable viticulture.
