About the product

Feudo Maccari's "Olli" Grillo is a crisp white wine from Sicily's sun-drenched vineyards. This DOC-certified expression showcases the Grillo grape at its finest—delivering bright citrus notes, green apple, and a hint of minerality that reflects the region's volcanic terroir. Perfect as an aperitif or paired with seafood, pasta, and light Mediterranean dishes. The wine's refreshing acidity and clean finish make it an ideal choice for warm weather sipping or casual entertaining. A true taste of Sicily in every glass.

Tasting Profile & Food Pairings

Taste Notes

This wine is a "step up" in complexity, offering a beautiful balance of fruit and mineral saltiness.

  • Appearance: Bright straw yellow with golden reflections.
  • Aroma: A bouquet of white peach, apricot, and citrus peel, layered with hints of almond blossom and a distinct savory, salty breeze (the "salinity" typical of coastal Sicilian wines).
  • Palate: Medium-bodied and textural. It has a "weight" to it that many light whites lack, featuring flavors of mandarin and stone fruit balanced by a crisp, white-spice finish.
  • Finish: Long, clean, and vibrantly fresh with a lingering mineral touch.

Food Pairings

Grillo is the ultimate "seafood wine," but its texture allows it to handle richer dishes too:

  • Seafood: Grilled prawns, sea bass with lemon, or the classic Sicilian Spaghetti alle Vongole (clams).
  • Pasta & Rice: Seafood risotto, pasta with pesto, or creamy vegetable linguine.
  • Vegetarian: Sicilian Caponata (sweet and sour eggplant), spring green salads, or grilled zucchini with mint.
  • Cheese: Excellent with fresh goat cheese (Chèvre), Mozzarella di Bufala, or mild Pecorino.

About the brand

Feudo Maccari was founded in 2000 by Antonio Moretti Cuseri (famous for his Tuscan estate, Tenuta Sette Ponti). Located in Noto, on the southeastern tip of Sicily, the estate is a mosaic of over 50 separate plots. They are known for championing the Alberello (bush-vining) method, which protects grapes from the intense Sicilian sun. The winery is also noted for its high sustainability standards and modern approach to ancient volcanic and limestone terroirs.
