About the product

El Tequileño Reposado Tequila is a classic expression crafted in Jalisco using a blend of estate-grown Blue Weber agave and natural spring water. Rested in oak barrels, it develops a smooth, balanced profile that highlights both agave character and gentle wood influence.

On the palate, it offers notes of cooked agave, vanilla, and light caramel, complemented by hints of toasted oak, pepper, and subtle citrus. The balance between sweetness and spice creates a clean and approachable flavor profile.

The texture is smooth and medium-bodied, leading to a soft, warming finish with lingering agave, light spice, and a touch of oak.

Versatile and well-crafted, El Tequileño Reposado is suitable for both sipping and mixing, delivering a traditional and dependable tequila experience.

Tasting Profile & Food Pairings

Taste Notes

  • Appearance: A light, straw-gold straw with brilliant clarity.
  • Nose: Inviting and fresh. It opens with sweet cooked agave and steam-roasted pineapple, followed by sophisticated layers of light oak, vanilla, and a hint of white pepper.
  • Palate: Silky and well-balanced. You will find honey and butterscotch leading the way, transitioning into a mid-palate of citrus zest, dried herbs, and a subtle earthiness.
  • Finish: Smooth and refreshing. It leaves a lingering trail of cinnamon, roasted nuts, and a touch of mineral salt, with a clean, agave-focused exit.

Food Pairings

The balanced oak and bright agave of El Tequileño Reposado make it an exceptional partner for a wide range of Mexican and coastal flavors:

  • The Savory Match: Grilled Fish Tacos with Lime. The tequila’s citrus and mineral notes highlight the freshness of the fish, while the oak stands up to charred tortillas.
  • The Main: Chicken Mole Poblano. The chocolate and spice in the mole are a perfect "mirror pairing" for the tequila’s subtle vanilla and cinnamon notes.
  • The Cheese Board: Mild Manchego or Goat Cheese. The creaminess of the cheese softens the tequila's pepper spice, allowing the sweet agave to shine.
  • The Classic Serve: The Batanga. This is the legendary drink of Tequila, Jalisco—mixed with Mexican cola, fresh lime, and a salt rim, stirred traditionally with a knife.

About the brand

Founded in 1959 by the legendary Don Jorge Salles Cuervo, El Tequileño is one of the few distilleries that remains family-owned and operated. Located at the historic "La Guarreña" distillery (NOM 1108), the brand is named after the inhabitants of the town of Tequila itself. In 2026, El Tequileño is celebrated globally for its "additive-free" philosophy and its unique production methods, including the use of open-air fermentation with volcanic spring water and 150-year-old mango trees surrounding the fermentation tanks to provide natural wild yeast.
