Tasting Notes

Because these are bottled straight from the barrel without dilution, they are "powerhouse" whiskies:

• Nose: Intense and sweet. You’ll find the signature Jack Daniel’s banana bread and toasted oak, but layered with heavy rye spice: cinnamon rolls, fresh mint, and a touch of lemon zest.
• Palate: Thick and oily. It explodes with butterscotch, molasses, and dark chocolate. The rye grain provides a "green" pepperiness and a cooling herbal note (wintergreen/menthol) that balances the high heat.
• Finish: Exceptionally long. It leaves a drying oak sensation, followed by lingering charred sugar, cloves, and a hint of dill.

Food Pairings

At such a high proof (often 65%+ ABV), this rye needs bold flavors that can stand up to the alcohol:

• Appetizer: Candied Bacon with Cracked Pepper. The salt and brown sugar on the bacon complement the whiskey’s sweetness, while the black pepper echoes the rye's natural spice.
• Main Course: Venison or Game Meats. The "wilder," leaner profile of venison works better than fatty beef for this high-proof rye. The herbal/minty notes in the whiskey act almost like a chimichurri sauce for the meat.
• Cheese: Extra-Aged Gouda. Look for the ones with the little crunchy protein crystals. The caramel-like flavor of the cheese is a perfect mirror to the barrel-proof sweetness.
• Dessert: Pecan Pie. The density of the pecans and the corn syrup filling provide a heavy sweetness that can "tame" the high ethanol burn of the whiskey.
